My name is… Peter Otieno Ezekiel, born normally but at the age of 5 years became disabled because of Polio. I couldn’t walk the way I used to and would use my hands and knees to walk like an animal. Life was not easy as I was rejected and called derogatory names severally. Some parents restricted their children from associating or playing with me because they believed that they may also become disabled, and for a long time I felt alone. I want to tell the beloved parents who have children with disabilities; whether it is Autism, Cerebral palsy, Spina bifida, Hydrocephalus, Club foot, Down syndrome, Mascula distrophy or any other forms of disability, let us love them, welcome them in the world like any other child, when we see any form from a child that may lead to disability we are encouraged to take early intervention in the hospital so that we be able to prevent some early enough. Husbands should encourage their wives to regularly attend clinics during their time of pregnancy, to avoid any form of stress to their wives, avoid physical trauma, let them not run away or give blame games to their wives when suppose they deliver a child with any form of disability. They may run away thinking that they are safe but allow me to tell you that everyone is a potential candidate of disability. Today, I give glory to God because some years down the line I was called by different names but in the year 2005 I was operated and today I enjoy my life using crutches and my tricycle and life continues in a normal way. I enjoy my life normally and give awareness to everyone.
